IMPORTANT: The panel used in this paper was constructed by staff of the World Bank's Development Research Group staff from the Rural Household Surveys (RHS) done by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of the People's Republic of China. NBS provided the RHS data to the World Bank for the sole purpose of the research project for which this paper is a product. We provide the relevant variables from the panel data set used in our paper solely for the purpose of replicating the results reported in the paper. Anyone who wants to use the data for purposes other than replication of results reported in this paper, will have to get written permission from: Mr. Xian Zude Director of Rural Survey Organization National Bureau of Statistics Yuetannanjie 75, Xichen, Beijing 100826 P.R.C.
