gmrk.zip contains the file health.asc. It is a large ASCII file, in Unix
format, with 30590 observations and the variables which are described in
table 1 of the paper. One additional variable is index. This variable is
unique for a person and is running from 1 to 5180. It is needed for panel
analysis. Data are taken from the German Socio-Economic Panel (GSOEP). 

Hints for reading the data:

The file has not an rectangular structure. Thus a new line indicates
not a new observation. It is organized as following:
