Kosei Fukuda, "Age-Period-Cohort Decomposition of Aggregate Data: An Application to U.S. and Japanese Household Saving Rates", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 21, No. 7, 2006, pp. 981-998. There are two text files: USA.txt and JPN.txt. Each file has two data sets: One is household saving rates series corresponding to Table III or Table V, and another is number of households surveyed. Survey periods are laid out in columns, and age groups are laid out in rows. U.S. and Japanese data are obtained from the Consumer Expenditure Survey and from the Annual Reports on the Family Income and Expenditure Survey, respectively. Both data files, which are in DOS format, are zipped in the file fakuda-data.zip. Unix users should use "unzip -a".
