The data used in this paper were extracted from the PLANFOR (Plano
Nacional de Qualificação Profissional) data set. The data contains
information on 1066 students that participated in PlANFOR in Rio de
Janeiro.

Each row of this data set contains information on one student, and the
columns represent the following variables:

turma: identifies the classroom of each student

trat: binary variable that is one if student i received treatment and
      0 otherwise.

homem: dummy for sex (1=male, 0=female)

branco: dummy for race (1=while, 0=non-white)

idade: student's years of age

chefe: binary variable that is one if the student i is the head of the
       household and 0 otherwise.

frq_escola: binary variable that is one if the student i attended
       school and 0 otherwise

educa: years of schooling

solteiro: binary variable that equals one if student i is single and
          0 otherwise.

filhos: number of children  

trabantes: dummy for previous labor market engagement

desenho: dummy for type of course taken by the student (1=drawing, 0=other)

marketing: dummy for type of course taken by the student (1=marketing, 0=other)

informatica: dummy for type of course taken by the student (1=computer
             course, 0=other)

auxadm: dummy for type of course taken by the student
        (1=administrative assistance, 0=other)

datilo: dummy for type of course taken by the student (1=typing, 0=other)

contab: dummy for type of course taken by the student (1=accounting, 0=other)

balcon: dummy for type of course taken by the student (1=sales clerk, 0=other)

All data are in the file planfor.csv, which is an ASCII file in DOS
format. It is zipped in the file fp-data.zip. Unix/Linux users should
use "unzip -a".

The zip file also contains the Stata files ITEs.do and main-program.do.
