All data are in the file ricefarm-data.txt, which is zipped in the file 
ricefarm.zip. This is an ASCII file in DOS format, so Unix/Linux users
should use "unzip -a".

This is a panel with N = 171 and T = 6. 

(1) ID: individual identification number. The first digit indicates the 
        village (region) where the corresponding individuals live.
    1 = Wargabinangun, Kabupaten Cirebon.
    2 = Lanjan, kabupaten Indramayu.
    3 = Gunungwangi, kabupaten Majalengka.
    4 = Malausma, kabupaten Majalengka.
    5 = Sukaambit, kabupaten Sumedang.
    6 = Ciwangi, kabupaten Garut.

(2) HA: this is the total area that farmers cultivated with rice, measured in 
        hectares. 

(3) STA: catagorical variable for land status.
    STA=1, if non sharecroppers (owner operators or leaseholders or both).
    STA=2, if sharecroppers.
    STA=3, if mixed 1 and 2.
    Note: this variable is not available for the first two periods.
          We assume that STA(1)=STA(3), and STA(2)=STA(4).

(4) VAR: catagorical variable for varieties.
    VAR=1, Traditional Varieties (TV).
    VAR=2, High Yielding Varieties (HYV).
    VAR=3, Mixed Varieties(TV+HYV).

(5) INT: catagorical variable for intensification programs (BIMAS).
    INT=1, non-BIMAS farmer.
    INT=2, BIMAS farmer.
    INT=3, mixed 1 and 2, that is part (but not all) of farmer's land 
              was registered to be in the BIMAS program. 
    Note: this variable is not available for the first two periods.
          We assume taht INT(1)=INT(3), and INT(2)=INT(4).

(6) KGS: seed in kilogram.

(7) KGN: Urea in kilogram.

(8) KGP: phosphate in kilogram.

(9) RPEST: pesticide/herbicide cost in Rupiah.

(10) PS: price of seed (Rupiah/kg).

(11) PN: price of urea (Rupiah/kg).

(12) PP: price of phosphate (Rupiah/kg).

(13) HL: hired labor in hours.

(14) FL: family labor in hours.

(15) LAB: total labor (excluding harvest labor).

(16) WAGE: labor wage (Rupiah/hour).

(17) GRKG: total output (rough rice) in kilogram.

(18) NETKG: total rough rice in kilogram after deduction for harvesting cost
            (note that harvesting cost is paid in terms of rough rice).

(19) RPKG: price of rough rice (Rupiah/kg).
