Vasco M. Carvalho and Andrew C. Harvey, "Convergence in the Trends and Cycles of Euro-Zone Income", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 20, No. 2, 2005, pp. 275-289. All the data used are derived from the Groningen Growth and Development Centre and The Conference Board, Total Economy Database. See their website at http://www.ggdc.net for more information regarding the series used in the paper, data revisions, sources and methodology used. The base series is yearly GDP per-capita (for OECD countries) in 1990 US dollars (converted at Geary Khamis PPPs), available from the Total Economy Database. See the above website for information on the construction of the series. We have applied a log-tranformation to the values of 11 Euro-Zone countries. The data used in the paper are stored in the file GDPeuroz.txt (DOS format, 7 Kb). The data file is rectangular with 48 lines and 12 columns. Each line represents a year, starting from 1950 and ending in 1997. Each column, except the first, represents log-transformed GDP per-capita for a Euro-zone country. The columns are ordered as follows: (1) Year (2) Austria (3) Belgium (4) Finland (5) France (6) Germany (7) Greece (8) Ireland (9) Italy (10) Netherlands (11) Portugal (12) Spain The data file is zipped in the file ch-data.zip. Unix users should use "unzip -a".
