Kelvin Balcombe, Iain Fraser, and Eugene McSorley, "Visual Attention and Attribute Attendance in Multi-Attribute Choice Experiments", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 30, No. 3, 2015, pp. 447-467. There are 6 data files: 1. Choice-Cards.txt 2. Choices.txt 3. Fixation-Count.txt 4. Fixation-Duration.txt 5. Stated-NA.txt 6. Visual-NA.txt All six files are zipped in the file bfm-data.zip. Since these are ASCII files in DOS format, Unix/Linux users should use "unzip -a". In each file, the nutrients are: Salt = Salt Sug = Sugar Fat = Fat Sat = Saturated Fat Price = Price Detailed Description as below 1. Choice Cards This contains the 24 Choice Cards used in the experiment. Each row represents a different choice card. The attribute levels are the colours, red, amber or green, with price being numerical. The Choice Cards are therefore 24 by 15. 2. Choices. Individuals (40) are in rows Choices in Columns (21) indicating which option (1 2 or 3) as in the Choice Cards File. Option 4 indicates a don't know. The first 20 individuals completed Cards 1 through 12 (in the first file) with the second 20 individuals completing Cards 13 through 24 (in the first file). 3. Fixation Count Contains 12 matrices. Each matrix represents the fixation count by attribute (nutrients and price) by each individual (in rows) for the ith Card completed by the individual. 4. Fixation Duration The fixation duration for each individual on each of the 12 cards completed by the individual. 5. Stated NA Stated Non Attendance for each individual in rows by each of the attributes labelled in the first row. 1=stated non-attendance of the attribute 0=stated attendance of the attribute 6. Visual NA Visual Non Attendance for each individual in rows by each of the attributes labelled in the first row. 1=stated non-attendance of the attribute 0=stated attendance of the attribute Visual NA was constructed using the 50% rule outlined in the paper based on the fixation counts in File 3.
