Marco Alfò, Giovanni Trovato, and Robert J. Waldmann, "Testing for Country Heterogeneity in Growth Models Using a Finite Mixture Approach", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 23, No. 4, 2008, pp. 487-514. The estimation was perfomed using GLLAMM-STATA 8 (www.gllamm.org). There are two data files, each of which comes in two versions. There are two Stata datasets, databg.dta and datawb.dta, which are zipped in data-dta.zip. There are also two ASCII files, databg.txt and datawb.txt, which are zipped in data-ascii.zip. The ASCII files are comma-separated files in DOS format. The two Stata datasets, which are binary files, are zipped in the file atw-data-stata.zip. The two text files are zipped in the file atw-data.zip. Since they are ASCII files in DOS format, Unix users should use "unzip -a". OECD=1 for OECD countries. western= western hemisphere countries. GDP = Per capita GDP - 5 years average. SK= Ratio of investment to GDP - 5 years average. SH= Fraction of working-age population enrolled in secondary school - 5 years average. glf= Growth rate of labor force - 5 years average. All variables are averaged values over non-overlapping 5 years periods between 1960 and 1995, while rate of percapita GDP is lead 5 years. All of the data with the exception of SH are from Bernanke and Gurkaynank (NBER 2001), who in turn constructed the data from Penn World Tables 6.0 (The original data set is freely downladable from http://www.princeton.edu/~bernanke/data.htm). SH is from the World Bank's World Development Report. Missing data are reported as "."
