Bernard Fortin, Nicolas Jacquemet, and Bruce Shearer, "Labor Supply, Service Intensity, and Contracts: Theory and Evidence on Physicians", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 36, No. 6, 2021, pp. 686-702. The dataset used in this paper is confidential. The list of researchers who have access to this dataset is regulated by the Quebec Access to Information Commission (CAI). The CAI also requires that the dataset be destroyed when the associated research project is completed. The dataset was constructed from two sources. The Quebec College of Physicians conducted an annual survey of physician time use. Physician income and service prices were extracted by the government from the administrative records of the Quebec Medical Insurance Board (RAMQ), the government organization responsible for paying physicians. In order to ensure confidentiality, the data were matched by government statisticians, who also calculated the price and quantity indices used in the paper. The instructions for constructing the price and quantity indices used in this paper are available in the Appendix to the paper. Authors interested in reconstructing the data (or constructing a similar data set) can contact the Quebec Institute of Statistics (ISQ), who is now responsible for all enquiries related to RAMQ data, at (sad@stat.gouv.qc.ca) and the Quebec College of Physicians at (info@cmq.org) for permission.
