The variable names and descriptions are as follows: year: the year of the observation country: the acronym for the country of the observation bc: the banking crisis dummy, 1 in each year of the crisis, 0 otherwise pop: country's population, in thousands pcgdp: country's per-capita GDP, US$ name: country's name africa: 1 if an African country, 0 otherwise transition: 1 if a transition country, 0 otherwise.
