There are two versions of the data file. Both have 3648 rows (one row
of labels and 3647 rows of data). One uses comma separators, and the
other uses tabs. Both files, data-px.txt and data-px.csv, are ASCII
files in DOS format, and they are zipped in the file data-px.zip.

The dataset contains 3647 observations and 10 variables, which
are organized as a 3647 by 10 matrix. 

"bidp": Bids submitted;

"estp": Engineer's estimates on the auctioned project;

"potp": Number of potential bidders announced before auction started;

"aot": Number of actual bidders defined as qualified bidders actually
       submitted a bid (as announced by the department of transportation);

"newprs": Identification number of the auctioned projects;

"avbackp": Average of backlog (unfinished work) for potential
           competitors in the auctions;

"lengthproject": Number of days required to complete the auctioned
                 project, as estimated by the engineers;

"lgbid": Logarithm of submitted bids;

"pr_all": Rate of actual bid submission for the auctioned project;

"isea": It is a dummy variable, being one for involving a Grading type
        of job in the auctioned project; and zero otherwise.

The data were collected from the website of Michigan Department of
Transportation.
