G. Cavaliere, L. Fanelli, and A. Gardini "International Dynamic Risk Sharing", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 23, No. 1, 2008, pp. 1-16. The file risksharing-txt.zip contains three ASCII test files in DOS format, and the file risksharing-xls.zip contains three files in Excel format. The text and Excel files contain the same data. Unix users should use "unzip -a" when unzipping risksharing-txt.zip, but the "-a" option should not be used when unzipping risksharing-xls.zip. The source of the data is the AMECO Database: http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/indicators/annual_macro_economic_database/ameco_en.htm Data are annual and cover the period 1961-2003 (43 observations per series). Variables refer to the following countries: Germany (GE), France (FR), Italy (IT), Spain (SP), The Netherlands (NE), Belgium (BE), Austria (AU), Portugal (PO) and the United Kingdom (UK). The file population.xls (population.txt) contains the population data of the nine countries listed above. The first column of this file is the population of Germany (pop_GE), the second column is the population of France, and so forth. The file consumption.xls (consumption.txt) contains the series relative to Private Final Consumption Expenditure at current prices of the nine countries listed above, along with their corresponding consumption deflators. Expenditures are expressed in national currency. The first column of this file represents the series Private Final Consumption Expenditure at current prices (and divided by 100000) of Germany (cons_GE), and the second column the corresponding consumption deflator (BASE 1995=1) (def_GE). The third column represents the Private Final Consumption Expenditure at current prices (and divided by 100000) of France (cons_FR), the fourth column the corresponding consumption deflator (BASE 1995=1) (def_FR), and so forth. The file exchange_rates.xls (exchange_rates.txt) contains the series of Nominal Exchange Rates (annual average) of the nine countries listed above, expressed as units of national currency for 1 ECU/EUR. Note that for the countries joining the European Monetary Union (EMU), the nominal exchange rate is equal to 1 from 1999 to 2003. The variables in the file exchange_rates.xls (exchange_rates.txt), along with the consumption deflators in consumption.xls (consumption.txt), can be used to calculate the log of the real exchange rates used in the paper.
