Trivedi, "Bayesian Analysis of the Two-Part Model with Endogeneity: Application to Health Care Expenditure", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 21, No. 7, 2006, pp. 1081-1099. The dataset used in this paper consists of the 1996-2001 waves of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS). The sample is restricted to only those individuals who are covered by private insurance, aged between 21 and 64 years, employed but not self-employed. There are 20,460 observations and 36 variables. The data file MEPS96_01.txt, which is in DOS format, is zipped in the file dmt-data.zip. Unix users should use "unzip -a". The data are saved in column, space delimited format with variables appearing in the order listed below. Definitions and summary statistics of these variables are given in Table 1 of the paper. 1 AMBEXP 2 LNAMBEXP 3 DAMBEXP 4 HOSPEXP 5 LNHOSPEXP 6 DHOSPEXP 7 PPO 8 HMO 9 FFS 10 FAMSIZE 11 AGE 12 EDUC 13 INCOME 14 FEMALE 15 BLACK 16 HISPANIC 17 MARRIED 18 NOREAST 19 MIDWEST 20 SOUTH 21 MSA 22 AGE2 23 AGEXFEM 24 VEGOOD 25 GOOD 26 FAIRPOOR 27 PHYSLIM 28 TOTCHR 29 INJURY 30 SPAGE 31 LAGSPPPO 32 LAGSPHMO 33 YEAR98 34 YEAR99 35 YEAR00 36 YEAR01
