Arjan Heyma, "A structural dynamic analysis of retirement behavior in the Netherlands", Journal of Applied Econometrics, Vol. 19, No. 6, 2004, pp. 739-759. The panel data used in this paper come from two waves of the CERRA survey (CERRA stands for Centre for Economic Research on Retirement and Ageing). The first wave was held in 1993, the second in 1995. The data from these waves can be found in the files cerra93.dat and wave2.dat, respectively. These are fixed-width ASCII files in DOS format. These files are zipped into cerra_1993.zip and cerra_1995.zip, together with two files to construct stata data files. Extensive documentation of the questionnaires, in Dutch, can be found in several PDF files, which are zipped into questionnaires_1993.zip and questionnaires_1995.zip, respectively. These files are extremely large, because they are simply images of the paper forms. English translations of the 1993 questionnaires, in WordPerfect and RTF formats, are zipped in questionnaires_eng.zip. Each record in the data set identifies a household. Most data concerns the head of household, with some additional data on the spouse. The 1993 wave contains 4527 households with a head between 43 and 63 years old, and the 1995 wave contains 3424 of these households. Variables are mainly concerned with work, retirement, income, and health. For details, see the extensive documentation of the questionnaires.
