The file rsdata.dat is a tab-delimited ASCII file, with 698 rows and 16
columns (i.e. 698 observations, 16 variables).

The variables are as follows:

1. d76 - vote in 1976 (0 - Democratic, 1 - Republican)

2. d72 - vote in 1972 (0 - Democratic, 1 - Republican)

3. xd72 - policy distance between the 1972 Democratic candidate and the
          voter (See footnote 11 in the paper). 

4. xd76 - policy distance between the 1976 Democratic candidate and the voter

5. xr72 - policy distance between the 1972 Republican candidate and the voter 

6. xr76 - policy distance between the 1976 Republican candidate and the voter 

7. efd72 - (vertical) attribute of the 1972 Democratic candidate 
           (0 - lowest, 6 - highest evaluation of the candidate).
8. efd76 - (vertical) attribute of the 1976 Democratic candidate 

9. efr72 - (vertical) attribute of the 1972 Republican candidate

10. efr76 - (vertical) attribute of the 1976 Republican candidate
