There are three data files, all containing the same data based on published household budget data from the Italian Central Statistical Office (ISTAT). The file bpr_dta.csv is a comma-delimited ASCII set, bpr_data.ascii is a plain ASCII file, and bpr_data.dta is a STATA data set. The two ASCII files are in DOS format. All three files are zipped in the file bpr_data.zip. The individual unit is the cell defined in terms of family size and income decile aggragating individual observations of the surveys undertaken during the period 1973-1992. There are 1729 observations. The data set includes three aggregate goods: "food," "housing and fuels," "miscellaneous." The "miscellaneous" item includes clothing, health care, transportation, communications and all other goods and services.
